“Long distance” does not specify what a carton will experience. A parcel may be rehandled, stored or exposed to different conditions, while another long route is relatively controlled. Describe the actual box and route before selecting kraft or reinforced kraft water-activated tape, then test the seal in a way your logistics team can document. This article cannot guarantee arrival condition.
Map the risks you can observe
Record the filled weight, board source and construction, seam layout, inner supports, number of handoffs, storage steps and whether the package is sent by parcel or palletized movement. Identify any recurring damage location from your own records. Avoid inventing a generic “maximum safe distance” or a universal strength rating for the tape.
| Route question | What to note |
|---|---|
| How often is the carton handled? | Transfer points, stacking and manual contact areas. |
| Where has damage occurred? | Photos of seam, edges and board—not just a “failed delivery” label. |
| Does the box vary? | Board supplier, filled weight and carton dimensions by order group. |
| Can packing be repeated? | Dispenser, operator sequence and inspection before dispatch. |
Choose and trial a candidate
- Compare 48 mm and 60 mm strips on the actual seam; confirm dispenser compatibility. BrandTapeCo does not offer other custom widths, including 72 mm.
- If deciding between kraft and reinforced kraft, keep the carton and application method the same and record the construction used on each trial box.
- Observe fresh seals and the boxes after the handling steps relevant to your own route. Photograph visible lifting, board damage, wrinkles or a clean result with timing and box identity.
- Approve only the defined use case. Recheck when board, packed weight, route or station setup changes.
The heavier-carton guide helps compare construction without inventing a weight threshold. The compatibility worksheet gives a record format for the carton trial.
Order the tested configuration
Keep material, 48 mm or 60 mm width, approved artwork and carton test reference in the purchase order. Standard online rolls are 50 m and require at least five rolls per design and color configuration. A different roll length needs a sales feasibility review and separate written quotation; it is not guaranteed. Check the current product listing for orderable options and prices.
