Do not infer recyclability from a brown kraft appearance or from the word “paper.” A claim about a printed water-activated tape depends on the complete construction, the carton it is used on and the collection system where that package becomes waste. BrandTapeCo has not provided a product-specific recycling certification or test result for this article, so the safe starting point is an evidence request—not a finished recyclability claim.
Define the exact claim before requesting documents
“The tape has a paper backing,” “the tape can remain on a corrugated box in a named recycling stream,” and “the whole package is recyclable” are different statements. Write the proposed sentence, market and disposal route first. Then ask whether the evidence actually supports those words for the exact tape construction and printed version you plan to buy.
| Evidence to request | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Product identification and complete material construction | Distinguishes kraft paper from reinforced kraft, and identifies adhesive, reinforcement and other components. |
| Ink and printing details for the approved artwork | A result for an unprinted sample may not cover a printed order. |
| Applicable test report or written acceptance statement | Shows what was tested, by whom, under which method, and whether the tested item matches the ordered tape. |
| Destination-market collection and recycler guidance | Accepted materials and separation instructions can differ by location and waste stream. |
| Validity, limitations and approval owner | Prevents a narrow result from being reused as a general worldwide claim. |
A five-step review for procurement and marketing
- Identify the order. Keep the tape material, 48 mm or 60 mm width, artwork version and intended carton with the evidence request. Other custom widths, including 72 mm, are not offered.
- Ask for the underlying evidence. Request the actual document and its scope, not merely a sales summary or a badge in a graphic.
- Compare like with like. Check that the material, adhesive, reinforcement, printing and carton combination in the document match the proposed order and statement.
- Check local disposal rules. Confirm the claim against the relevant collection or recycler guidance for each market where the package will be discarded.
- Approve the words or narrow them. If the evidence is missing or narrower than the proposed claim, publish only the verified material fact, or make no environmental claim until the review is complete.
Do not treat an application trial, sample approval or a photograph of tape on a box as proof of recycling acceptance. Those records serve different purposes. Also avoid extending a conclusion about the carton alone to the tape-plus-carton assembly without supporting evidence.
How to ask BrandTapeCo
Send the exact product configuration, artwork, destination market and proposed claim, then request any product-specific documentation available for that construction. If no suitable evidence is available, do not present the tape as certified recyclable, compostable or plastic-free. For the language review after evidence arrives, use the environmental-claims checklist.
The current product page is the source for orderable specifications, not a substitute for a recycling test. Standard online custom tape is 50 m per roll, with at least five rolls per design and color configuration. A different roll length requires a sales feasibility review and separate written quote and is not guaranteed.
