An environmental brand may prefer a paper-based packaging appearance, but visual preference is not evidence that the entire printed tape is recyclable, plastic-free or compostable. Decide what you want to say to customers, then ask whether product-specific documents and local collection rules support those exact words. If the evidence is missing, narrow the wording or leave the claim off the box.
Separate product facts from environmental conclusions
BrandTapeCo offers kraft and reinforced kraft paper-based, water-activated custom tape. That describes the offered construction at a high level; it does not establish the adhesive, reinforcement and ink composition needed for every possible environmental claim. Ask for documentation covering the exact printed configuration and intended destination market before using a badge or certification language.
Review each proposed statement
| Proposed statement | Approval question |
|---|---|
| “Paper-based tape” | Does the document identify the backing and make clear which part is paper? |
| “Recyclable with the box” | Does evidence address the tape-plus-carton use and the destination collection system? |
| “Plastic-free” | Have all components, including adhesive, reinforcement, inks and coatings, been checked? |
| “Compostable” | Is there product-specific evidence under relevant conditions for the exact configuration? |
A sample seal on a carton is useful for application review, not environmental certification. A supplier brochure badge is not enough if its scope, issuing body or tested product cannot be confirmed. The recyclability evidence checklist lists documents to request; the claims wording guide helps marketing review the final sentence.
Keep the purchase specification real
Choose the actual carton, material and offered custom width—48 mm or 60 mm—and approve the printed proof separately from any claim. Other widths, including 72 mm, are not available. Standard online rolls are 50 m with at least five rolls per design and color configuration. A different roll length requires sales feasibility review and a separate written quote and may not be made. Check the current product page for orderable choices, not as proof of an environmental certification.
