Many apparel orders ship in cartons, while others use self-seal mailers. BrandTapeCo’s water-activated kraft tape is a carton-sealing product; do not assume it is the right closure for a plastic poly mailer or another non-corrugated surface. Start with the outer boxes your team actually uses, then decide whether one branded tape can serve the carton range.
Separate carton orders from mailer orders
Review common order combinations and the resulting outer package. Group corrugated boxes by seam and board type, and keep mailer-only orders outside the carton-tape forecast. If a customer return uses a different box or closure method, document that separately; a printed outbound strip is not automatically a reusable returns seal.
Check the small and large boxes
Lay 48 mm and 60 mm strips across the smallest and largest regular carton seams. These are the only offered custom widths; 72 mm and other widths are unavailable. Look for edge overlap, shipping-label interference and whether a normal tape cut shows enough of the logo. If the boxes need different material or width specifications, do not force a single design onto all of them.
Test the production workflow
- Use actual packed cartons, including inserts or folded apparel as normally shipped.
- Confirm dispenser compatibility and follow its maker’s water-activation instructions.
- Record visible seal issues and artwork readability at the packing station.
- Keep the approved box range, material, width and proof with the reorder record.
The mixed-carton guide helps decide whether one width can cover the range. The reorder guide helps prevent artwork or box changes from being missed.
Do not confuse an outbound seal with a return solution
An apparel brand may want customers to reuse the box for returns, but a water-activated strip that sealed the outbound carton does not automatically provide a second closure. If returns reuse is part of the brief, specify the returns workflow and its separate closure method before approving box artwork. Keep that requirement out of the tape performance claim unless it has been independently validated.
The standard online roll is 50 m and each design and color configuration requires at least five rolls. A different roll length is subject to sales feasibility and a separate written quote and may not be available. Check the live product configuration before approving an apparel-box order.
