Gummed Tape for Logistics Procurement: Build a Comparable RFQ

Build a logistics procurement request for gummed tape around actual cartons, route, handling, dispenser, artwork and a comparable written quotation.

Logistics procurement teams reviewing gummed tape logistics procurement requirements at a packing station

A logistics buyer needs a tape specification that survives handoff from purchasing to the packing line. Start with the filled carton and the route it takes, then ask suppliers to quote the same material, width, artwork and roll configuration. Do not compare a low per-roll price against a different roll length or an untested carton application.

Describe the shipping operation

List the box sizes and board suppliers, filled weights, top and bottom seam layouts, packing-station dispensers, storage and handling steps, and destination. Identify any carton that changes during peak season or by customer. These facts determine which samples and supplier questions matter; they do not themselves prove a seal will survive the route.

Send one specification to every supplier

RFQ field Buyer entry
Tape material Kraft or reinforced kraft water-activated construction to evaluate.
Width 48 mm or 60 mm; these are BrandTapeCo’s only custom widths.
Roll 50 m standard online length; state any different length separately as a feasibility request.
Printing Approved artwork revision, design/color configuration and proof owner.
Volume and destination Quantity required, delivery address, desired packing date and any split destinations.
Evidence Sample availability, product documentation and any tests needed for the defined cartons and route.

For standard online ordering, the minimum is five rolls per design and color configuration. A single bespoke roll can cost more than those five standard rolls; compare the full delivered quotation and actual metres, not just the label “small order.” Confirm production and delivery dates in writing for the actual order.

Use the sample to close operational questions

  1. Test the proposed tape on representative filled cartons with the actual dispenser and trained packing step.
  2. Record any lifting, wrinkles, board damage, feed or cutting problem and when it appeared. If a route condition matters, define how your own team will observe it.
  3. Separate artwork approval from carton-seal approval. Keep both records with the selected quote.
  4. Document exceptions for unusual board or stations before issuing a blanket instruction to all sites.

The carton compatibility worksheet helps control the physical trial. For a wider facility rollout, see water-activated tape in fulfillment centers.

No custom width outside 48 mm or 60 mm is available, including 72 mm. A different roll length needs a sales feasibility review and separate written quote and is not guaranteed. The current product page lists the standard configuration.
