Two-Color Custom Printed Tape: A Proof-Approval Checklist

Review two-color printed tape artwork with separate color references, actual-width layout, logo repeat and one approved proof version.

Brand and procurement teams using two-color artwork reviewing two-color custom printed tape requirements at a packing station

Two-color tape artwork is easiest to approve when each color has a defined role and reference. Do not send a flattened image and ask the supplier to “match the two shades.” Show which elements belong to each color, then check the design at 48 mm or 60 mm actual width on the carton where it will be used.

Separate the design decisions

Identify the logo, background or secondary mark, each color reference, and whether either color carries text that must remain legible. Keep the editable artwork and a visual guide together. Ask the supplier to confirm accepted file format and production limitations for the specific order; this article does not assign an unverified registration tolerance or exact-match promise.

Check the repeat and carton

  1. Choose an offered width: 48 mm or 60 mm. Other custom widths, including 72 mm, are not available.
  2. Place the proof at actual scale across the shipping-box seam, including the normal cut length and any label overlap.
  3. Confirm that the two colors remain distinguishable on the selected kraft or reinforced kraft material.
  4. Review whether a cut through the repeat removes essential wording or makes the logo look incomplete.
  5. Have a single brand approver accept the final color/layout version and an operations owner confirm carton use.
Proof field Decision to record
Color A and color B Named references and the elements assigned to each.
Material and width Kraft or reinforced kraft, 48 mm or 60 mm.
Repeat direction How the mark reads after a normal tape cut.
Approval Proof version, approvers and unresolved limitations.

For a deeper color discussion, see the color-reference guide. For logo cut points, use the repeat-pattern guide.

Standard online orders use 50 m rolls and require at least five rolls per design and color configuration. Do not assume that a two-color order is cheaper or faster than another option without a comparable written quote. A different roll length is only subject to sales feasibility and separate written quotation, with no guarantee. Check the live product page for current configurations.
