A distributor cannot make a reliable customer offer from “printed kraft tape, bulk quantity” alone. The supplier needs to know the end-use carton, proposed material and artwork, width, roll requirement, quantity and delivery plan. Keep the customer-approved version separate from the supplier quote so a change in one does not silently change the other.
Collect the downstream requirement first
Ask the end customer for representative shipping cartons, board surface, filled weight, packing-station dispenser, brand artwork and destination market. If different customers or sites use different cartons, label each use case. Do not imply a universal load rating, recycling status or transit outcome from a generic tape description.
Send a quote-ready specification
- State kraft or reinforced kraft water-activated construction and the chosen 48 mm or 60 mm custom width. Other widths, including 72 mm, are not offered by BrandTapeCo.
- Attach the artwork file, proof revision, color reference and person authorized to approve it. If several designs or colors are ordered, separate the configurations.
- Specify the standard 50 m roll unless a different length is essential. A nonstandard length is a feasibility request only and needs a separate written quote.
- Give the quantity by design/color configuration, destination and requested date. The standard online minimum is five rolls per configuration, while volume-order terms and timing require a written response for the actual order.
- List any sample or evidence the customer requires, and identify which claim it is meant to support.
| Compare supplier responses on | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Same material, width and metres per roll | A per-roll price cannot be compared if the specification differs. |
| Artwork proof and revision | Prevents the wrong design from being carried into the customer order. |
| Order minimum and full delivered total | A bespoke single roll can cost more than five standard rolls combined. |
| Written production, delivery and exceptions | Allows the distributor to make only commitments the supplier has confirmed. |
Close the handoff
Once the customer accepts the quote, save their approval beside the supplier’s final specification and artwork proof. Confirm which party owns any carton test and who resolves a mismatch at receipt. For a detailed buyer form, use the custom gummed tape RFQ checklist. Current product options show what can be ordered online; do not assume a nonstandard configuration is available until sales confirms it in writing.
