Multilingual Custom Packaging Tape: Approve Words and Layout Separately

Review multilingual custom tape artwork for accurate translation, reading direction, repeat cuts and legibility on a 48 mm or 60 mm proof.

International brands placing more than one language on tape reviewing multilingual custom packaging tape requirements at a packing station

Two languages on a narrow tape can become unreadable when the strip is cut across a repeat or wrapped over a carton edge. Before approving multilingual artwork, confirm the translation with a qualified reviewer and test the actual printed layout at 48 mm or 60 mm width. A supplier proof can show placement, but it cannot certify that the language is correct.

Lock the text before designing the repeat

Keep one approved source sentence for each language, identify the intended market and name the person responsible for translation approval. Check product names, legal or environmental claims and punctuation separately; a designer should not be asked to infer meaning from a visual file. Save the approved wording with the artwork version so a later edit is visible.

Test what survives a normal cut

  1. Place the proposed design at actual scale on the selected 48 mm or 60 mm tape width. Other custom widths, including 72 mm, are not available.
  2. Mock up the shortest typical tape strip used on the real carton. Check whether both languages remain complete and legible after cutting.
  3. Wrap the strip over the carton seam and edge. Observe whether one language disappears underneath the box, a label or another strip.
  4. Check reading direction for each language; a rotated or reversed repeat may be readable in a flat proof but confusing on the box.
  5. Ask the language owner and brand owner to sign off the same final proof version.

For pattern geometry, use the repeating artwork guide. For sign-off, use the proof approval checklist. Do not state that an unreviewed translation or a screen mock-up has been verified in print.

BrandTapeCo’s standard online custom roll is 50 m, with a five-roll minimum per design and color configuration. Treat each separate language or color version as its own configuration for quantity planning. A different roll length needs sales feasibility review and a separate written quote and may not be available. The product page has current order options.
